Sorry, I’m not sorry. Expo edition.

Dear Larabar booth,

Sorry I took more samples then allotted. You didn’t actually seem to mind. (Or notice?) Also, sorry I sent my amazingly shameless roommate over to steal more for me. Also sorry, I’m not sorry she swept by your table on the way out and grabbed me a few more. I love these bite sized bars. They’re the perfect thing to cram in my mouth as I’m running from work to spin. They’re also just enough food to get me through a morning run without hurking my brains out on the side of the road. If you sold them in this size I’d buy them by the case. But you don’t, so I’m left to try and sneak as many as I can out of various running expos. See you in NYC, okay? Bring lots of the PB cookie ones. 26.2 is a long way. I’ll need my energy.

xo Michelle

In other Saturday news I went to Costco after picking up my bib. I scored these awesome Lulu-like tanks for 12.99 each. I’ve been living in the one I got a few weeks ago and needed more with the heat wave coming. This doesn’t mean i’m giving up my cool racerback habit, but 13 bucks is a whole lot more manageable then 40!

Isn’t my photography stellar? I’m actually in the market for a point and shoot if anyone has any good, reasonably priced recommendations…. I know everyone reading will miss my iPhone photos though. *sniff*

What type of camera do you use??

My quad is healed! My quad is healed!

And by healed I obviously mean it’s been two days, one four mile run and one body conditioning class with no pain! I could jump for joy I’m so happy. I would jump but i’m afraid I may hurt my leg again.

I do think my new shoes are maybe, possibly giving me shin splints though. Balls. My quad being headed means I don’t get to go back to doctor hottie-pants but it’s okay. I’ll take it. I don’t know if I could handle him feeling up my thigh again.

Today is a rest day. I ate a gallon of pinkberry and am planning on parking it on the couch for the rest of the night with this little girl. We put the AC in today. Holler.

Tomorrow is the expo for Boston’s Run to Remember. Anyone been? I hear it stinks but I love expos. I also like medals. Anyone know if the 5 milers get them on Sunday?

I only run for the swag…

Today I laced up because…

Running is cheaper then therapy. And because it seemed like a better idea to plan for a run then to yell “I hate you, you’re all stupid stupid heads and this project is stupid” in a meeting.

So I ran. And it was stormy in the best way possible. I put on “Sweet Disposition” by Temper Trap. (The Temper Trap?) and pretended that I was in a movie. And that while running I was deciding which guy I was going to choose from. And I pretended like that was the biggest choice I had to make in my life.

Then “Shipping out to Boston” came on and I pretended that I was a rookie cop. Out for a workout before I have go toe to toe with the corrupt and hardened cops in my unit.

What? You don’t do this? I can’t seriously be the only one…Okay, don’t judge me. Whatever gets me through the miles, right?

Then I came home and continued my deep and intimate relationship with my foam roller. Hurts so good.

My troubles? Left ‘em on the pavement for someone else to trample all over on their run.

Sunday Wrap Up

Allergies suck. I’m actually worried about marathon training with these bad boys. I *think* they go away in early summer but man, right now they’re zapping me of all energy which is making running H.A.R.D.

*Side note, running is never exactly easy for me but allergies make it 10x worse. There’s nothing like feeling like you’ve been run over a million times when you wake up in the morning.

Today was an unintentional rest day. That happens when you don’t wake up till 11am and have a million errands to run. I could head out now but at 8:30pm watching Scott Pilgrim and making lunches for the week seems much better.

So I’ve got 3 runs on the schedule this week… 2m, 4m and 5m. My main goal for Sunday’s 5 mile race is under 60 min. (I’m sloooow. I know. Don’t judge me. ) But honestly I’ll be happy to run the whole thing with no quad pain and feel good after.

Alright…off to make some lunches. Happy Sunday kids!

Can I just have a bionic knee?

Ahhh the joys of distance running.. What you see if 2 ice packs and a compression sleeve on my thigh. I’ve had this quad thing since the half in March. It’s under control but i’d like my left leg to completely normal by the time official marathon training starts. (Yes, that’s a dog bed my foot is in. Seconds after the picture was taken my dog tried to get in it and was mad/confused. She didn’t understand “I have 7 minutes of icing left!)

Today’s run was an easy paced 4.25 miles. I have Boston’s Race to Remember next week so I took it easy. I’m a little sad I didn’t sign up for the half but I guess I’d rather rock the five miles then have a mediocre half and hurt my quad again. Off to the mall to run some errands and avoid entering lululemon.

This face….

This face makes all my stress go away. Well, this face and the m&m cookies I have baking.

“ummm… you might just need to get used to that pain…”

I’m sorry girl working at Marathon Sports  but just because our feet “totally look similar” does not mean your shoe works for me. And I do actually think it’s not normal for me to feel the blood rush back in my feet when I take off the shoes. I think it would be actually pretty darn uncomfortable on long runs.

And furthermore while i’m not a super duper experienced runner, I know my body well enough to know the difference between distance running soreness and stabbing pain in my arch. Stabbing pain in my arch is not something I’m going to “learn to run with.”

Off to the other marathon sports in the hopes that they have someone a little more understanding on staff today…
